HISTORY

q     The pioneer in the sphere of Local Area Networking in Sri Lanka, Univell Microsystems commenced operations in June 1987 with PC based services as our focus.

q     In 1992, we decided to break new-ground in the networking arena, by becoming the first Sri Lanka Company to introduce advanced networking products and quality networking solutions to the local market.

q       We have behind us a proven innovative and pioneering track record.• A majority of the 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, Gigabit Ethernet LANs and almost all major fiber optics based campus LANs implemented in Sri Lanka today have been installed by us. q     The first to identify and enter the emerging market in professional standards-based LAN premises cabling systems based on 10BaseT and EIA/TIA 568

q     The first to offer comprehensive cabling certification to EIA/TIA 568 standards (using a Microtest PentaScanner^R)

q     The first to implement Category 5 based 10BaseT LANs

q     The first to offer true LAN analysis (using Fluke 685 Enterprise LANMeter^R)

q     The first to implement a Fiber Optics based LAN (for UNDP) an Armored FO installation (for SLPA) an ATM network (for MBSL) and Switched Ethernet LAN (for Vanik).

q     The First Gigabit Ethernet Network in Sri Lanka (Central Finance).

q     The First Voice-over-IP (VoIP) network in Sri Lanka (for Aitken Spence, connecting their HQ to over 6 subsidiaries across SLT•s Frame Relay services).

IBM BUSINESS PARTNER

q       Univell Microsystems was IBM Sri Lanka•s first Network System Integrator, handling IBM•s broad spectrum of networking equipment from Hubs to Campus and Wide Area ATM switches.

PERSONNEL

q       Univell Microsystems is headed by Neville Perera, who counts more than 25 years in the computer industry, with wide ranging experience from microprocessor based systems design and development and manufacture to current LAN technology.

q       Our General Manager, who has been with the Company since its inception, manages the largest team in Sri Lanka dedicated to providing quality networking.

q       Our permanent cadre number over 90.• Our field staff of over 55, is supervised and under the guidance of three senior Site Managers.

q       •The Certification Team headed by two foreign-trained engineers support the many on-line installations of our corporate clients.
